Video & Audio Content
RecentMulti-media content creates entity signals across Google's video, audio, and web properties. Every video and podcast episode is another touchpoint that reinforces your brand. Google owns YouTube. Short videos are appearing above standard videos in SERPs for competitive keywords. Audio platforms like Podbean auto-distribute to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn, creating referring domains and brand mentions on major authority sites.
"Audio, video, content, images, schema, engagement. Give Google good content, answering the queries that users have in every form possible, and make sure to include social media.", Mike Merlino, Sep 2025

Short vs. Long Video Strategy (Updated Oct 2025)
Both short and long video formats have a role. Mike confirmed in Sep 2025 that different formats rank in different positions:
| Format | Duration | Where It Ranks |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Shorts | Under 60 seconds | Short video carousel in SERPs, also competes in Reels/TikTok |
| Full video | 3-8 minutes | Standard YouTube results |
| Both | , | Doubles surface area in video results |
In the Oct 2025 call, Mike demonstrated live that SERPs now show a "short videos" section above "videos" for some service keywords. Having both formats means you show in both slots.
Rule: Create at least 2-3 Shorts from every full-length video. Cut key points, add text overlays, and publish on separate days, not all at once.
YouTube and SERPs, The Keyword Order Shift (Oct 2025)
Live demonstration from the Oct 2025 call:
"All maps, images, short videos, videos, news, watch the order. The order changed from short videos to videos for 'emergency plumbers'.", Mike Merlino, Oct 2025
For competitive service keywords, short videos now appear before standard videos in the SERP layout. If you are only creating long-form content, you are missing the short video slot.
Embedding YouTube Content in NEO Wiki (New, Oct 2025)
A new workflow using rss.app and SEO Neo's Wiki Wizard to create embedded YouTube syndication pages:
- Go to rss.app and convert your YouTube channel URL (or a specific playlist URL) into an RSS feed
- Inside SEO Neo's Wiki Wizard, use the RSS feed to embed a video carousel on the wiki page
- The wiki page becomes a continuously updated display of your YouTube content, tied to your service keywords and NAP information
Why this matters: The wiki embed creates an additional indexed page that associates your YouTube channel with your brand entity, service keywords, and location. Every time you upload a new video, the wiki page updates automatically.
"I wouldn't pick the whole YouTube channel. I would actually pick a playlist that's all about one service. So imagine, a wiki page that's all about drain cleaning, and it shows the last 5 drain cleaning videos automatically.", Mike Merlino, Oct 2025
Audio Content
Podbean Podcast Hosting

- Format: "Brand Name | Service | City"
- Episodes: repurpose blog posts as conversational audio
- Auto-distributes to: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, TuneIn, iHeartRadio
- Embed player on relevant website pages
Episode structure:
- 10-20 minutes
- Intro with brand + service + city
- Content adapted from blog post

- Outro with brand + contact info
Podbean Multiple Episodes Per PAA (Updated Sep 2025)
A tactic confirmed in the Sep 2025 call: you can create multiple Podbean episodes for the same PAA topic.
- Episode 1: The answer to the PAA question
- Episode 2: A related follow-up question or expanded section
- Each episode embeds the Google Map for the business location
- Optionally embed the corresponding YouTube video inside the episode notes
This approach increases the entity signal density around one keyword/topic without requiring new blog content.
SoundCloud
- Secondary audio hosting for embeddable players
- Embed audio on blog posts and service pages
- Short audio tips (2-3 minutes) for social sharing
- Player links in GMB posts create additional touchpoints
"You should already have SoundCloud and podcasting in the mix. If not, I don't know what the fuck you're doing.", Mike Merlino, Sep 2025
Patch.com (New, Sep 2025)
Patch is a community-driven local news and blog platform. Two actions required:
- Create a business listing on Patch for the client
- Publish articles on Patch whenever you publish a new PAA blog
Every article, image, and content asset you create should go on Patch. It's a local authority domain that Google references and that increasingly shows up in AI Overview sources.
"Everything you do, throw on Patch and SoundCloud, the exact image, the exact everything.", Mike Merlino, Sep 2025
Patch also has an API, which means you can potentially automate article publication from your blog RSS via n8n.
Google NotebookLM

Image Distribution for Video SEO (Sep 2025)
Images are a component of the video and audio workflow, not just the blog workflow:
- Upload branded images to Imgur and at least one other major image hosting site
- Use NEO's RD100 campaign with exact match anchor text targeting the image's text content
- This pushes the image higher in Google Image search for your target keyword + geo
- Once the image ranks in Image Search, it creates an additional SERP footprint for your brand
"When you do them images, put it on Imgur and get the images publicly out there on big, known websites. The biggest. Then if you do a little link building to that, it'll end up boosting up that image. You could do that with NEO, with the RD100 campaign, exact match, for the exact match text in the image.", Mike Merlino, Sep 2025
Video Distribution
After uploading to YouTube:
| Platform | Action | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Website | Embed on relevant service page | Full video |
| GMB | Upload directly | 60-second max |
| Native upload (not YouTube link) | Full or trimmed | |
| Reels version | 60 seconds max | |
| X / Twitter | Native upload | 2:20 max |
| Native upload | Full or trimmed | |
| TikTok | Short clip version | 60 seconds |
| Video pin | 15-60 seconds | |
| Patch.com | Article referencing the video | Written + embed |
Always Upload Natively
Posting a YouTube link to Facebook gets suppressed by the algorithm. Upload videos natively to each platform for maximum reach. Create platform-specific cuts from the master video.
The GEO Signal Rule for Video Content
Every video and audio asset should include the geo, the city or region name, in the:
- Title
- Description
- Tags
- Transcript / captions
- Thumbnail text overlay
This is not about keyword stuffing. It is about giving Google the same signal from multiple formats: who this brand is, what they do, and where they do it. When a video, a podcast episode, and a press release all say the same thing, brand + keyword + geo, that consistent signal is what drives AI Overview and local map visibility.
"The whole words, or questions, geo on the image, on the video, on the content, on the press release. It's like a universal syndication of: here I am, this is what I do, where I'm located, and what my name is.", Mike Merlino, Sep 2025
